The Darlington Collection is extensive collection housed by the Archives Service Center, University Library System, University of Pittsburgh. William McCullogh Darlington amassed his collection of rare maps and documents during his lifetime. Included are thirty-six rare maps, eight of which show various iterations of the world, including Gerhard Mercator’s world view created in 1613. Some maps are large and unbound. Others are included in rare books. These maps were part of an exhibition on June 12, 2015 at the Hillman library. The exhibition was conducted on the 200th anniversary of William Darlington’s birth on May 1, 1815. == History of the collection == Mr. Darlington was an attorney from Pittsburgh Pennsylvania and spent much of his life collecting maps. Some of these date back to the 1500s . The Darlinton's childre O’Hara, Mary, and Edith, also added to the family collection.
